Pretty cool and all, but part of me can't help thinking,"What? It's not enough to stuff your face with all that sugar and chocolate. Its gotta be perfectly sculpted too. So you can shove it in your fat face, get fatter, die younger various health problems... all while this* is going on."
I'm sure that every single thing you do with your life is of the utmost importance, and that all the proceeds of your adventures go to helping starving children.
Oh, wait, no, you're sitting at your computer, commenting on pictures on dudelol. All while children starve.
That's the bitch of it. It isn't even about what any individual does. Can't blame the cake artist. They are just trying to make a living. Can't blame the market. People with the money like buying these things (I wouldn't be able to afford a shoe collection, much less a shoe collection cake).
Really it is the entire global capitalist society that by its very nature places all the wealth into a tiny minority of the most greedy hands. People like Bill Gates that are actually willing to give back any portion of their billions are the minority.
I would be helpless to alleviate world wide suffering. But the major countries could. The Rockefellers could. But they are all more interested in bank bailouts, tax cuts for the very richest, and figuring out how to kiss "people" like GE's ass to the tune that the small business owner can barely stay afloat with all the taxes, fines, and fees, but GE doesn't pay a dime in income tax.
But yeah, it's my fault because I am checking out dudelol. /facepalm
Your viewpoint is valid, and I agree that things like extreme cake decorating are entirely trivial, especially when you think of what's really going on in the world. I agree that the system is utterly flawed.
But your comment was literally the twelfth one I read today that was some variation of "I can't believe *some trivial thing* is going on while *some horrible thing* is going on!" and it rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't mean to come off as troll-y as I did, I was just irritated. My heart breaks for the helpless and suffering, and I try to do what I can for whom I can. But sometimes I just wanna laugh at silly pictures on the internet and not think about those things.
Yeah the world sucks in a lot of ways. That's why I come here too. But the incredibly decadent and expensive cakes depicting incredibly decadent and rich things ...
Anyway, on to the next picture of a cat tripping or some shit.
What I think that people forget is the whole world suck/world awesome thing. I agree that it sucks that there are starving children and dying panda's and that something needs to be done about that (i.e. decreasing world suck), but we shouldn't forget that there is also a lot of awesome in the world that needs to be sustained too (e.g. weirdly decorated cakes) We should help decrease world suck, definitely, but if we're only doing that it's like playing a game where the two teams are only defending themselves, instead of trying to win. And who's going to watch that match?
Stefan Lundqvist, wasn't this already covered? But you added your stupid two cents. You rhetorically asked (and I paraphrase), "Who really cares about tragic things?"
Really, dude? Really? /facepalm
Do I really need to try to answer that? Who cares about tragedies? Yeah, you feel stupid now (or at least you should).
