During my entire time in the UK I have not seen one gun outside a gun range, and I would not know where to begin to look to obtain one. Would I be able to say the same fi I had spent the same duration in the US?
Not quite. So, we ban guns. Then what? They disappear? No, all it means is that now I can't have one, but you don't need to worry about me because I have no intention of hurting anyone. There are shit tons of guns in the US, yes, but guess who has them? Criminals. And guess who banning guns is NOT going to affect? Criminals.
Most of those concerns could be resolved with lengthly amnesty period with some sort of government-run buy-back scheme (which will obviously be expensive). Criminals choose to keep hold of their weapons? Then hopefully they'll end up facing harsh consequences.
Japan prohibits handgun possession by citizens. Shotguns and rifles for hunting or sports may be possessed upon completion of a licensing procedure that requires a police background check, successful completion of a safety course, passing of shooting, written, and psychological tests, and police verification of secure storage, prior to approval being granted by the police to purchase a firearm.[29] Fully automatic weapons are restricted to military and police. Gun owners must take a class once a year and pass a written test. Police check on the owner once every three months on an unannounced visit.[Source?] They inspect the gun locker, proper ammunition storage, and the firearm.
This might not keep guns out of the hands of criminals ( you'll never stop that, the world runs on crime), however it stops uneducated people with a sense of righteousness from taking lives. And yes I own a gun.
He is right, spoons did help him to be fat just like guns help people to shoot and kill people. But being fat isn't illegal. Killing someone obviously is. To be honest, gun sellers are accomplices. Are there good reasons why guns should be legal? Yes. But people should recognize the faults with our current system as well.
They obviously don't understand guns, the second amendment, and the *fact* that gun control hurts way more than it helps. They refuse to do some research and apply logic while operating purely off idealism.
It's not about there being no guns, it's about the fact that they have an unusually high violent crime rate, including stabbings and rape. Getting rid of guns didn't solve anything, the methods just shifted. Having a gun doesn't make you a killer, killing makes you a killer. You can just as easily kill somebody with a car or a baseball bat, but I don't see politicians trying to ban people from driving to the ball game.
thing is if we ban guns.. obviously the "bad people" who are shooting people won't care about the ban, they are disobeying laws any how.. BUT the "good people" who protect others now are not allowed to have guns.. and I'm sorry but i dont want to live in a place where crazes have guns and we aren't allowed to protect ourselves and loved ones with them.
Because buying a gun means you're definitely going to kill someone... And it would be impossible to kill someone without one.
Those sneaky, sadistic gun-shop owners thought we didn't know this?
Not only are we, the Americans, allowed to have guns, but we are allowed to maintain a militia! we could have all of the legal gun-owners form a small-scale army to protect ourselves. yay!
japan also brutalized the phillipines and the chinese during world war two, and committed countless atrocities against American and various European prisoners of war. needless to say, the japanese are not right about everything.

And no I do not own a gun. However, I do believe in the Bill of Rights.
Like the fact that areas with less gun control have less crime, and in countries (and states) where guns have been banned, (like DC) crime rates have actually gone up noticeably?
Yep because selling someone a knife or gun is telling them to go kill someone, selling someone a spoon is telling them to go get fat, and selling someone a car is telling them to commit vehicular manslaughter while drunk.
