The on-ramp should have a sign that says "DO NOT SLAM ON BRAKES!" You wouldn't believe how many people will come to a dead stop on an on-ramp waiting to merge!

I'm patiently waiting for the day when our on board computers let us send voice messages to the cars on the road with us, so I can repeat the message on the far left sign in person.
And yes, I am a star trek geek who would like a hailing system on his car. Just imagine "dude get the fck out of the fast lane" "jeeze dude, ok i'm getting over now" "Make it so!"
I don't like how people think the fast lane is for people illegally going over the speed limit. The only thing they're entitled to is a speeding ticket. It's for people that are going at the speed limit, and trucks/trailers that cannot go at the posted speed limit, should be the only vehicles that are out of place there. So if I'm in the fast lane and going at exactly the speed limit, I will not move for jerks trying to push me off the road. (unless it's an emergency vehicle).
No. It is not the "Fast Lane" at all. It isn't for people going the posted speed limit. It isn't for just driving in. It is for passing. It is the "Passing Lane". If you are not passing, don't be in it. If you are passing, use it and once you are done passing get back over to the right.
