Just Imagine How Stupid You Are Going to Look in 40 Years
Michael Sedacey Jr. says:
I'm just mad because I actually have to deal with one of the forms of hate but not the other, and I can't exactly hide my skin, then again it would be wrong for anyone to change themselves or put on a facade for anyone, no matter what color, sexuality or anything one is. I know the history of gays enough, for hundreds if not thousands of years hiding their position or only appearing in places filled of their own orientation. One such case would be the story of Sappho on the Isle of Lesbos, where as you can guess the word Lesbian is derived. Terrible indeed. Potentially gay oppression may be one of the oldest forms of oppression. Businessmen of Europe greatly superseded previous practices of slavery and if there was any hate, they multiplied it, for originally slavery was more so class and territory based. In essence, I agree all hate is wrong, and I should not have posted like that, the manner in which the typical internet "douche" does.
You can't compare racial segregation to sexual segregation. There are thousands upon thousands of horror stories about sexual oppression, same as racial oppression. You can't speak about sexual oppression if you haven't been there.
It's not the same, don't get it twisted. Sure gays might be opposed and everything, but how ignorant is it to compare that oppression to harshness of segregation and before that slavery. You can't hide your skin color, like gays hid their sexuality and I for one as a mixed race black man do not condole this. Racism is practically second nature by now, having been passed down through generations, making it hard to get rid of. Rights and desegregation may have happened, but hundreds of years after African slavery by Europeans started, the core of racism still exists. Keep fighting for rights if you want, just don't you dare forget all who died because of racism. Many humans today are mixed such as myself and wouldn't exist if no one chose to fight.
They already look stupid since less people are against gays then there were people against black rights back in the 60's.
And it's like, 50 years. Sheeeiittttt
This is the most idiotic post. Seriously? SO.... people are being hated and killed for their sexuality. Same as segregation. I know both sides are HORRIBLE. But you can't say that one is worse than the other. Hate is hate no matter the form it comes in.

It's nice to see someone who's well read and can actually use proper spelling and punctuation. And also dares to reform his statement. I tip my hat to you, good sir.
Oh thank you it's just I've been around all sorts of people, those with bad and good grammar, diverse races/ ethnicity, all forms of sexuality, poor to rich and different beliefs. I figure how can I sound so after getting to know people from various walks of life and reading some things. In good conscience I can't leave it so, I personally have no hate towards anyone.
Maybe people wouldn't hate gays if they didn't flaunt it in everyone's faces like it's a god damn badge of honor. Annoying. Stop floating around like a damn butterfly and singing lady gaga and just act normal.
This....this post right here should be shouted from rooftops. It should be passed by newsboys to bus drivers. It should be yelled from storefronts to stadium events. It should be mumbled to old ladies and spat at from the mouths of shoe shiners. It should be scrawled under bridges and quoted on game shows. Legit....the best comment on the internet. Thank you sir. I give you my stash of 10000 Internets!
"We must protect he sanctity of marriage!"
What sanctity? Roughly 50% of heterosexual couples get divorced, and roughly 50% of heterosexual couples living together aren't even married. It's quite obvious that straight folks don't care too much for marriage. That's why I think homosexuals should get married; if there's anyone who will appreciate the benefits of union, it's them. They've fought for the right to marry, they've taken fire from many sources, they have been ridiculed, spat upon, all that jazz. Yet they carry on. They're not holding shotgun weddings, they're wading through crowds of angry religious fanatics and other assbackward thinking people to marry the person they truly love. They are that devoted because that's how fucking important this is to them. That's something to be proud of.
ALSO: No bible stuff please, I don't need any more ammunition.
sooo you doubt my statistic but live by yours? hmm hypocritical?? again... the stupid and wrong will always ruin it for the good. i dont support unmarried ppl living together so that statistic does not surprise me or have any relevance to the argument. no one is going to sway either side of the argument over a fb post. all im saying is this pictures is absurdly over rated. if you believe that the comparison of gay rights to the oppression and slavery and killing of hundreds of thousands of Africans over hundreds of years pls go right ahead and tell me more about how they have a hard life here in America where they cant get married... as oppose to other countries who still stone to death, be-head, and kill by firing squad yea poor them they are really being oppressed... "one nation under GOD" if your going to go against what this country was founded on then yes you are going to have a hard time here
Amanda A. Nadekow No one is getting killed for sexuality...you gay-defenders are overdoing it. Heres one reason to disapprove of gay marriage: HIV . they have a higher chance of getting it
first off your statistic " Roughly 50% of heterosexual couples get divorced" is so overly used is pathetic.. but more importantly its inaccurate. it accounts for ALL heterosexual couples, EVERY TIME THEY GET MARRIED. so yes the retarded Brittney spears of this world are going to through that average way off. the real statistic is "90% of ALL FIRST MARRIAGES stay together. what this means is that 10% of the married populations has divorced its self soo many times that it has swung the data to 50% divorced rate. that is the real problem
Even though I highly doubt that a 10th of the population can swing an average because of how shitty of spouses they are, I still have another number, and your observation does little to the structure of the argument or my standing on this truly idiotic cultural battle.
Hundreds of people have been killed over their sexuality. For years gay people were isolated and abused because of their orientation, and lots of stupid outside sources like the Bible think that it's a sin to be gay. I'm not religious I wouldn't know, but don't sins have to be choices? Like, a sin to steal from someone, that's a choice. A sin to kill someone, that's also a choice.
Also, this religion wasn't founded "Under god." The reason the pilgrims left England was to have religious freedom. This country today supports different religions. Cities have not only churches, but temples, mosques, and synagogues.
Also, our country was founded upon "the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness." Not allowing gay people to be married, and even killing them because of it supports none of those three.
Read more than one book.
bottom line ur comparing hundreds... to hundreds of thousands... you might as well as bring in the attempted annihilation of the Jews by the Nazi regime. so since this whole argument has been based off my views and my religion. lets see how your beliefs and your religion or lack there of that supports gay rights and believes that it should be allowed
I don't follow a particular religion, so I'm just going to put that on the table. I don't think that any person shouldn't be allowed to marry another person just because it's different than what we're used to. If someone wants to marry, like, a blow-up doll, then THAT would make marriage mean a lot less. It's two human beings who feel attraction toward each other. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. I am personally straight and haven't ever had a sexual attraction to another man, but I don't think that we should restrict it just because it's different from what I think.
Society grows and people learn when they accept other people's beliefs. You brought up the Nazi regime, and yeah, Hitler and the other Nazi officials were bat-shit crazy and did something completely out of bounds.
BUT I'M GETTING AWAY FROM THE POINT SO OKAY BACK ON TRACK. The idea that an African American and a European American could co-exist in harmony in America was an idea that was thought of as absurd to most people. Now, 40 years (according to the caption) later, it's something we find completely normal and most people live with. The people who think that gay marriage can work with straight marriage seems absurd to many people. Not as many as the civil rights protesters, but many. I believe in 40 years, hopefully sooner, gay marriage is something that can happen without question or people shooting it down. And when that time comes, we'll look back to the people who were against it and think they were dumb.
I really don't want to get into bible talks, since it turns into a pissing contest, but it looks like I have no choice.
Homosexuals want to get married out of their free will. By denying them the ability to act out of free will you are going against the bible's teachings of tolerance. I've read many excerpts from the bible, and I have yet to find anything that explicitly states that homosexuals should be discriminated against. Aside from that, the bible has been manipulated by man since its inception. Even if you consider the bible the word of God, humanity has had excessive influence over what content can and cannot be in the bible. It's been changed for cultural and political gain more times than it should have been (that is to say, it shouldn't have been changed at all). You want to talk about what this country was founded on? Okay, then let's talk about RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. You have no right to enforce your religious views on someone else. This country's Constitution also clearly notes the separation of state and church.
You're the one who brought in the comparison of the slaves. You're the one who brought up religion. Don't even think about calling us out for, "comparing hundreds to hundreds of thousands." Just like the Civil Rights movements, it's just another cultural battle. I don't need to say more, considering Indigo summed that part up very well. Don't bring up other issues and try to twist it in a way that vilifies Indigo or myself. All you are doing is feeding us ammunition with which to berate you for your abundance of arrogance and irrationality.
No it's okay say whatever you want to me I'll have a load of fun tossing you on your backside. The bible is a giant contradiction of itself, because it has a gajillion interpretations. I don't know what line of things in it you follow, but it sure as hell has a contradiction in it, that's for sure.
so you have no preference or belief about human kind, God, the creation of the world, or anything else? that just seems stupid to me. but ok. the problem is that by allowing gay marriage you are spitting in the face of the major religions (chirstanity being mine) so to say it is wrong to deny ppl gay marriage because it is wrong to impose on ppls beliefs is a hypocritical
@Michael
"Potentially gay oppression may be one of the oldest forms of oppression."
On the contrary, it isn't that old. Hell, at one time, is was a part of everyday life in many cultures.
@Marina
"No one is getting killed for sexuality"
There has actually been many cases of of this.
"Heres one reason to disapprove of gay marriage: HIV."
You are implying that only homosexuals can carry this? Even if that were true, stop me if I am wrong, but unless every single person in the world is a God fearing man or woman, or just has high morals. I am pretty sure they will still have sex outside of marriage.
ive lost the ability to see our debate. call me out if you want o well... in the end we will find out who was right. ive thought about my beliefs and y i believe them and in the end ive found (in short) that to believe all of this is random accidents coming together to form everything is just illogical to me. there must be a God who designed it all although i may not see him or be able to prove he exist but that does not make him any less real. good luck to you
Jeremy Wiggins Again, you overdid it. I said HIGHER CHANCE, not ''only". anyway, I am ok with gays if they keep to themselves. Now, in every school in america starting from 1st grade, people will learn about it. The worst is that children are encouraged to think that its a very good thing.
Point taken, I worded my question wrong. Either way, the act of marriage is not a magical barrier. People are still going to have sex. Granted HIV is an STD, you shouldn't have "hate" towards homosexuals because the "general public" believes they are the "cause" of said disease.
If you want to argue, well they are still having sex. How does the private acts between two people affect your daily life? You may bring up the point, well every time you sleep with someone, you are sleeping with everyone they have slept with. Going back to your original point, what does that have to really do with marriage? Again, it is not a magical barrier to stop people from having sex.
Anyway, going back to the HIV thing: that would be like me hating a waitress in a restaurant for food being under cooked. The waitress wasn't the cause of it. Sure she brought it to me, but that is besides the fact that I am completely ignoring the source. You can chop it up to ignorance. If you are fine being ignorant. Well, more bliss to you.
Also, you bring up the point kids are learning this stuff in school, in America, at a young age. So, you think it is wrong to learn that it is okay to be who you truly are?
But I see your point. I mean, it's not like America was founded on freedoms or anything. Oh wait...
Nobody wants to flash their sexuality in your face. That is the media using it for ratings. Not all gays act that way. Sadly, the media only shows the flaming train wrecks, it isn't the fault of homosexuals. All the gays really want is to be accepted. Anyway, is the gay stereotype any worse than your profile pic and statement? Some fake ass "fake-hard" uneducated bum spouting out garbage and showing off his lack of tolerance? Get with the times.
Just because you can't explain the way things are does not mean that this old human concept of a "Creator God" is the answer. No human has the brain power to understand the meaning of everything or how it all began or if and why it is infinite or finite. All we can do is love one another and care for one another. We cannot act for a God or judge for a God. Morality and Spirituality can be attained through education and reflection.
lmao so the silly picture of me holding a wizard stick of Coors Lights in my college dorm means I'm a Fake-Hard uneducated bum? Right. Keep your anger under control bro. hahahaha
A couple of my better friends are lesbians and a few gay dudes. Im straight as hell and they dont flaunt there sexuality to me. Theyre respectful and Im very tolerant. The thing I cant stand are flamers who criticize me because Im not GAY! So FUCK your over tolerance. Im at my peak. Im a White, straight, male and Im sick to death of everyone acting like its not ok to be that way. Seems like its not ok just to be fucking normal and try to get along anymore.
fuck it, 100 percent of divorces start with marriage, you cannot argue with these numbers. And it matters not if some one is gay, strait, bi, or what ever the fuck they are, If you want to marry some one, it should be the person that you are willing to spend your whole life with. Besides religion is fucked and over rated, all it ever does now, and has done in the past is fuel war, generate hate, and oppress. And according to "God's" "Bible" he gave man "Free Will" and even "He couldn't interfere with that" so how the fuck does any human being have the right to say that some one cant marry another person because of gender.
or race, religious practice, or social status. Love is blind, and also stubborn, heard headed, and not to mention uncontrollable. so stop trying to oppress it,
