Seems like a partial view. The grey regions of the world are walled off from each other as well. China has restricted travel to North Korea and Myanmar and has a militarized border with India. India in turn has military forces on its border with China, Pakistan and a huge border fence with Bangladesh. Pakistan has started building a border fence with Afghanistan. The truth is that that green area is a region of unusually free travel and access. They are wealthy partly because they trust each other enough to have largely unrestricted trade and travel.
