Tjaden Hom well, its not like the fed's are going to be able to do anything about reselling videos and games...think about it...they are more concerned with fondleing our junk at airports than any type of media...the are just trying to find one more thing to control us for. whats next?!?! they are going to tap into our cable TV to figure out if were watching starz porn channels and how many episodes of dirty jobs n Mythbusters we watched on discovery channel
Krystal Marie Rose Schrot eehhhh pish posh...the golden rule dont apply to the government thats for damn sure...think about it...the government is multi-trillion $$$ in debt...so seeing as to how they arent making any gold at all, they are ones to speak. i see no reason for them to be making laws about what we can do with the shit we buy. either way...its not going to stop me from ripping my dvds (not that i do mind you...just proving a point)
you know, now that you reminded me, there was a story going around a few years ago about the legality of reselling shit like dvd's and video games (specifically video games)...obviously it didn't go though then but if this SOPA shit continues i feel it will be a probable outcome
Krystal Marie Rose Schrot ....rofflmfao!!!...haha...i knew the "golden rule" was from somewhere...that movie is one of my several favorites!! but yeah...
i can press record on my VCR player!!!
'You've heard of the Golden Rule haven't you boy? Whoever makes the gold, makes the rules?'
I wonder if a lot of it is just the general populace not being so ignorant of things going on...
Brian Rogers I admit... if we were all this ambitious it sounds kind of fun... like prohibition. We're going to get a new form of 'gangster' well be Gngstrs, or Lolsters, or pwnsters?... selling photoshopped celebrities on the black market... badass
Krystal Marie Rose Schrot Yes, but Libraries BUY the movies and books and are a government supported function. The original files that are streamed are usually ripped off.
I don't see trading files as stealing...i see it as more sharing...i mean...if torrent sites are SOOO FUCKING WRONG that you want to shut them down...you might as well send a police/swat/military force out to all the garage sales going on that are selling dvds to get rid of movies just lying around taking up space...either way, the media industry has us all by the balls...selling a dvd/video/bluray at a garage sale is just as illegal as free torrent...because the company that owns the copyright isn't making the money off of the sale. and also, you might as well go from door to door and ask to see the person/s dvd library questioning them about where they got the movies cuz odds are traded with friends or just given to the person...that too is just as illegal as torrent sites...they are not looking at the grand scheme of things...oh, and if you get rid of the torrent sites, there's always netflix...what are you going to do then? shut them down...
Jeremy, of course he did. He stole BILLIONS of dollars in money from the rightful copyright owners. If the feds wanted to they could arrest anybody who went to and used that site for assisting him in the theft. I agree SOPA and PIPA are evil, but that doesn't excuse what sites like Megavideo, Videobb, and VideoZer do.

Fight for freedom. Fight AGAINST Piracy. SOPA and PIPA are evil, but sites like Megavideo STOLE from the rightful owners. Course that IS what America is about, isn't it? Stealing what isn't ours.

Adam Bushfield true, i did watch movies where i actually see people moving in the theaters. Netflix was a good idea, but i like the ability to stream. I guess we just need to come to some sort of compromise.
Krystal Marie Rose Schrot I will be the first person to admit that I do use the iwatchnetwork.com site but I almost ALWAYS buy the episode after I watch it.
Adam Bushfield Now explain how libraries are allowed to give out said DVD without permission of the parent company and then charge for late fees AND require a card (a type of subscription) to check out said DVDs....
Potato, patatoe...spliting hairs.

Some of the comments on here are actually shocking. People just expect artists to spend years learning their craft, thousands of pounds making an album/film etc and then you people expect it for free. You think its your right to have someone work and get nothing in return so you can spend time on your arse on your computer watching or listening to it and then just past judgment on it and move on. I am guilty of illegal downloading but its still wrong its still stealing and I feel bad for doing now days I really try to avoid but when I have money I try to buy stuff and give something back to the artists who have entertained for free. If you can afford it buy if you can't then try to give something back to the people that you spend hours of your lives watching and listing to for free. I know iv downloaded albums illegally but now spoitfys out I have NO excuse and the same with tv if I watch stuff and I like it I still try to buy. ITS NOT YOUR RIGHT TO FREE STUFF, WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU GIVEN BACK? you privileged to get free stuff to try give a little back.
Theres a term for people like you, freeloaders. Go record an album see how much it costs and then be fine when everyone steals it. Sure you don't do it for the money but your got to make alining.
Haha, you know basically nothing about me, you threw up a straw-man argument for me to try to defend yourself, but failed. My point was more that from way up on your pedestal, you criticize the masses, after admitting to doing the action yourself. Also, your use of an all caps sentence is frowned upon these days. I laugh at your justification of your own actions while assuming everybody else only does it because they're terrible people. Blanket arguments are similar to absolutes in that they require little effort to fight.
No I'm saying what I id was wrong, I'm critiquing the masses on some pedestal everyone is naughty now and then and everyone downloads. But its not your right to to free music as it wasn't mine. And the capital thing, who cares? To be hounest I could be biased as i am a musician but I'm not going to have a keyboard war with you, I enjoyed my rant now move on.
