Honda Dio Review – The Girly Scooter For The Beautiful Ladies Of Town

Honda has been a market leader in the two-wheeler segment for a number of decades now. The brand Honda is a symbol of trust in this country with a number of people going for the range of two-wheelers from the company on faith and trust for good quality. Over the past few years, Honda has hit a jackpot with its Activa range of scooter and is expecting the same from its new offering, the Honda Dio.

Honda Dio Review – The Girly Scooter For The Beautiful Ladies Of Town

The Honda Dio uses the same Dream Mileage engine as the Activa and Aviator model. You can choose from 5 different Honda Dio colors for your new scooter. Let us take a good look at its specification.

Design and Style

The Honda Dio is designed in a way for it to look more flamboyant than its elder cousins – the Activa and Aviator. The Dio uses a sleeker plastic body on the outer surface against the heavy steel body as seen on the Activa which helps to appeal to the youngsters. The front end of the scoot features a new unit which includes the headlights on the front panel alongside a re-shaped front fender. The rear end is equipped with a grab rail and the tail-light cluster has been given an edgy design. The scooter uses a high rigid under-bone type chassis and is heavy at 110kg.

Instrument Console

While the digital console is still missing from the Honda scooter, the Dio uses an instrument console which is up to the mark against today’s standards. It is well equipped with a number of features such as an analogue speedometer and a fuel gauge. The dials and meters on the console are well-formed with visible indicator.

Engine and Gearbox

The Honda Dio uses the same single-cylinder, air-cooled 109cc 4-stroke OHC engine like the one used on Activa and Aviator. The transmission gearbox is also the same V-matic one. The engine is able to generate a maximum power and torque output of 8BHP and 8.74 Nm respectively. This slight improvement in the engine allows an increase in the acceleration and the scooter is able to offer a top speed of 78kmph.

Shades

The trendy Honda Dio colors suit the demands of the riders, especially women. To cater to the women, a number of bright color options are available such as Sports Red, Black, Candy Jazzy Blue and Candy Palm Green.

Mileage

The Honda Dio 110 is able to deliver an average mileage of 35-40kmpl in the crowded city roads while it increases to 45-50kmpl on the highway. The scooter has a 6-litre fuel tank which can provide a travelling distance of around 270 km on a full tank.

Suspension

One of the most disappointing things on the Honda Dio is the lack of telescopic front forks which has become a standard among the two-wheelers in the segment. These help to improve the scooter’s handling dramatically. The Dio instead features the regular spring-loaded hydraulic shock absorbers on both ends.

Brakes and Tires

As the case with Activa and Aviator, the Honda Dio uses a pair of 130mm drum brakes alongside the Combi Brake System (CBS) from Honda to improve the scooter’s stability. Unlike most of the competition, the Dio uses the 10-inch wheels along with 90/100-10mm tires for road grip.

Ride and Handling

The scooter’s improved engine power adds to an increase in the comfort level of the scooter. The handling of the scooter is very crisp and clean, even on the busy city roads because of the smaller frame of the scooter. The overall ride on the scooter feels quiet and smooth.

The Last Words

The Dio has been made keeping the needs and demands of the riders, especially young college going girls and women, in mind. The scooter is able to provide you with a comfortable ride, good engine performance, decent mileage and trendy Honda Dio colors.
