•          Keyboard awkward

About Acer C910 Chromebook 15: Very Impressive

The fifth generation of its Intel Core i5 (in the US only, Core i3 in the UK) and a 15.6-inch screen, C910 Chromebook is not like others on the market. Comparison of the most suitable is the 14-inch HP Pavilion Chromebook ($ 299, £ 190, AU $ 370), and the Rolls Royce of the Chromebook market, Google Chromebook Pixel 2 ($ 999, £ 799, AU $ 1,277).

Although similar in stature to the Pavilion, and is similar in power and price for the Pixel, stands alone as a giant C910 Chromebook.

1. The design is quite large

The first thing you will notice about the C910 is how big it was. Tipping the scales at a whopping 4.85 pounds (2.19kg), C910 exceeded Pixel 12-inch and 14-inch Pavilion with 1.5 and 1.4 pounds, respectively. Carry weight is a chassis that measures 1.0 inches (2.5 cm) high 15.1-inch (38.3cm) wide 10.1 inches (25cm) long. This is a fairly large notebook which is not ideal for people who will be running from meeting to meeting or coffee shop to coffee shop.

It is, however, perfect for students and teachers who will sit at the table for long periods of time. Housed in a black, textured fabrics gorgeous chassis with matte finishing diamond, C910 immediately improve the style of each table space.

Although the webbing was a pleasure to see and touch, it’s easy to collect dirt and stains. One quick wipe the surface will remove most (but not all) the damage.

Parents beware: this laptop will not break or chip if dropped or smashed by your child, but will not look like a brand new in a year if your child is planning to transport back and forth between home and school. If you are one of those parents who likes to keep things shiny, you may want to look at the carbon fiber or magnesium alloy laptop. For adults who take care of their belongings, the shell should be fine as long as you do not place items on top or at the same carrying bag.

Laptop 15.6-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) screen is a delight. You will be able to enjoy movies, browsing the web and playing games for a long time without feeling a lot of eye strain. Parents who enjoy watching movies with their children will appreciate the wide viewing angle of the screen, which allows you to sit three, four or five feet from any device regardless of the shadows along the edges.

Although this view is pretty sweet, it does not compare with Pixel 2, which sports a 2,560 x 1,700 IPS touchscreen. You can touch the screen C910 is all you want, but it will not respond.

2. The keyboard and touchpad are awkward

The same thing can be said about how the keyboard and touchpad are designed. Acer dedicated about three of the keyboard deck width of 15.1 inches is adequate but not exceptional speakers on the laptop facing. TouchPad, somewhat hollow and creaky, consuming three inches, and the keyboard takes a little more than five inches.

This makes navigation a little bit uncomfortable, especially for people with small fingers and a little typing experience (ie children). Acer should be expanded keyboard and buttons, reducing the width of the speaker, and cut the TouchPad in half.

There are areas where Acer is perfectly utilized the space and weight. For example Acer neat slide several ports and input into his little one-inch high.

It will definitely be useful for young children and the elderly who may not be tech-savvy enough to connect Bluetooth devices and Wi-Fi.

spec:

• CPU: 2.2GHz Intel Core i5-5200 dual-core

• RAM: 4 GB, DDR3L SDRAM

• Display: 15.6-inch full HD (1920 x 1080)

• Storage: 32GB SSD

3. The performance and features as well as processor

Acer made waves when it was first installed Broadwell processors in its Chromebook lineup. The processor is faster and more efficient of energy than the Celeron processor you would normally find on a Chromebook. Besides this basically, elevated class of a group Chromebook notebook is only suitable for light to a device that can be used to get a little work done.

Now, this does not mean you’ll want to use C910 as your primary computing device. It just did not have enough local storage capacity to house all your photos, music and documents.

However, in order to lure people to the Chrome operating system, Google is giving away one terabyte of cloud storage free for every new Chromebook purchaser. So, if you feel comfortable keeping all information in the cloud, you should be able to get by using this device without additional storage hardware.

When comparing the performance of the Pixel C910 and HP’s Chromebook 14, it is important to note the differences in the processor. Google Pixel 2 similar features Intel Core i5 processor under the hood with the C910, while the HP Chromebook 14 has a previous generation Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell processor.

This makes a big difference in how these units perform in the benchmark tests, which in turn will reflect how they perform in everyday use.

In terms of the performance of real life, C910 did not disappoint. I was able to do a similar set of browser-based task on the Chromebook I would normally run on a MacBook Pro. However, my MacBook house nearly 20,000 photos and god-only-knows how many programs I’ve downloaded.

This Chromebook will not be able to do it for you. But, if you store everything in the cloud, you should be doing anyway, and you’re just using this notebook for web browsing and word process, then you will love the performance of this C910.

4. Battery life extra long

The school day will not be fit for the C910. this bad boy can crank out a whopping eight hours and 48 minutes of continuous video playback with the volume and screen brightness set at 50%. It was not quite 10 hours of performance promised by Acer, but it was pretty darn close.

When compared with Pixel 2, C910 slightly lost the edge. we were able to push Pixel reviewer for eight hours and 22 minutes during the test more extreme in which he set the screen brightness to 50% while tabbing between 20 Web pages, listen to music and streaming Google two-hour movie on Netflix. C910 will not be able to last as long as it is under the same pressure exactly, but it is likely to make you pass the seven-hour mark.

Who do not dislike of this Laptop

This laptop is great. Acer needs to find ways to reduce the weight of 4.85 pounds for something more manageable. If money is not a matter and you are forced to bring 4.85 pounds, then you might as well buy yourself a mobile workstation company.

I am not a fan of how the keyboard and the screen are set. Too much valuable real estate dedicated to plastics, speakers and touchpad creaky. In the next iteration, I prefer to see a larger, more spaced-out keys, a wider screen and a smaller TouchPad.
