(That's 12 degrees less than boiling) Lattes are steamed to 160 degrees and extra hot is 180. any hotter than that and the barista should warn you of two things: 1) if I steam the milk hotter than 180 it could scald (burn) it and it would taste like shit and 2) I have to warn you that any thing over 180 degrees is very hot and could burn you. :)
